Examples of things to do in Vancouver include:
Take a scenic 2 hour ferry ride to Vancouver Island and Victoria, the provincial capital of British Columbia.  Other ideas include exploring the Sunshine Coast or the Gulf Islands.

Pacific Coast Lines has scheduled trips from downtown to Victoria via BC Ferries and also tours to the famous Butchart Gardens.   Explore Pacific Rim Park and enjoy the view of the Olympic mountains from Victoria.

Ride a train or drive the scenic sea-to-sky highway to Whistler, where the 2010 Winter Olympics will be held.   Enjoy the coastal and mountain scenery as well as wildlife.  Walk through quaint Whistler Village, take the gondola up the mountain and try some skiing or hiking (depending on the ground conditions).

If time permits, visit the interior of the province which boasts some breadth-taking views.
